Christmas rush

Clue 2 and clue 3 have been posted and I have not done a thing. Bonnie Hunter has posted a myster quilt along, Grand Illusion, at http://quiltville.blogspot.com/p/grand-illusion-mystery.html?m=0. I hoped to participate in the mystery. I completed clue 1 and I have been cutting and drawing lines on clue 2, but that is about all I have got finished.

I have some of clue 2 cut. I am holding on cutting the neutral pieces. I decided I wanted crisp white to off sit the black so I ordered some new fabric last week. I have yet to start cutting clue 3.

Meanwhile, I have been busy working on my granddaughters doll beds for Christmas. I have four granddaughters ages: 12, 7, and 6 months. The two new granddaughters, Emily and Sophia, are starting to watch Minnie Mouse on Disney channel so I thought I would make a bed for them to use with Minnie Mouse. I made the beds red and white. Amy is seven so her doll bed will go with a frozen doll and I made her bed pink and white. Below are the three doll beds.

Each bed has a fitted and flat sheet. The doll quilt has matching pillow case and dust ruffle.

Autumn is twelve and a preteen. She doesn't play with dolls anymore. I am working another gift for her that is more age appropriate.

Hoping you find time to sew this holiday season.

A little sunshine

I had an outpatient procedure today and have been taking it easy since I got home. I made some doll beds for my granddaughters for Christmas gifts and I spent this afternoon working on the binding for each bed.

I used my new light to help me see for the close handwork; however, my little dog keeps hoping into my lap.

It is so cute, Wee, thinks he is sitting in the sunshine.

I hope you have swift and sure needle so you can finish you gifts for Christmas. I am almost done with my hand made thing.

Ready for 2nd Clue

I am excited to say the remaining 10 broken dish units along with 80 pink and teal hst are done. I am ready for Clue 2 that Bonnie Hunter will publish this Friday  at http://quiltville.blogspot.com/p/grand-illusion-mystery.html?m=0 . Bonnie is hosting a mystery quilt along. She has designed a quilt and is posting part ofthe instruction each Friday until the entire quilt is revealed. Those participating in the mystery are her beta testers. The week gives us time to complete the instruction and/or as ask questions if we don't understand. There is a Facebook page, Quiltville Open Studio, where the testers chat about the mystery and support one another. It is really cool seeing the fabrics the other participants are using.

Mystery Clue 1

Wow it has been a week. I sewed on Clue 1 Friday through Sunday. I got 90 of the 100 broken dish units done. Clue 1 can be found http://quiltville.blogspot.com/p/grand-illusion-mystery.html?m=0 .

Using the Easy Angle Ruler was easy and simple. The triangles went together quickly. I liked this new technique.

Playtime

I played with my new ruler last night for the Bonnie Hunter's Grand Illusion Mystery Quilt Along. This is the first time I have participated in Bonnie's challenge. Her techniques are new to me and I am excited to learn from her. I have followed her blog for the last year or so and I have watched all of her quilt cams. I use quilt cam to keep me company when I am home alone.

Wait and See

I am sitting in the waiting area at Loma Linda (LLUMC) University and day dreaming about quilts. I am waiting to see if I passed the a test to see if I am strong enough for a kidney transplant. I am trying to remain calm and am focusing on quilting as a distraction.

I have been working on the Wishes Quilt along at Fat Quarter Shop http://fatquartershop.blogspot.com/p/wishes-quilt-along.html?m=1 .

Here it is on the design wall.

Fat Quarter Quilt Shop released the last block yesterday so I am excited to get the last block done and this top completed. While I made this quilt with scrap depression fabrics, I like the modern feel the white poka-dot fabric gives the project. I am thinking I will quilt it modern with simple diagonal lines. The texture should be great.

The bottom right block with the black border is an orphan block from a previous project. I used it in the arrangement of the blocks to see if I wanted to make a substitute for the December block. I think it would work, but now that the Fat Quarter Shop released the last block early it is not necessary.

I just realized that I can post to Design Wall Monday at http://www.patchworktimes.com/2014/11/17/design-wall-november-17-2014/

I actually have something up in my design wall. I have followed this blog on and off for a few years. I recently started my own blog so I could expand my quilting to not only day dream about quilting but write about it too.

Well still no news about the outcome of the test. I am not sure if I passed the test or not. I guess I will wait some more. I am going to post to Design Wall Monday and will end this post for now.

Anticipating Grand Illusion Mystery

I have collected my fabric and have ordered my ruler. I am trying to decide if I want to use one background fabric or if I want to make it scrappy.  I have two weeks to make this decision and to acquire the ruler and figure out how to use. Using this ruler is a new technique for me and I am looking forward to the adventure.
